Thanks to donors, renovations are keeping Laing House safe and warm

Hammers are swinging and the sawdust is flying at Laing House this summer! A few of our fantastic donors made contributions directly towards improving the House, and thanks to them we’ve been able to undertake renovations that will help keep us warm and dry for years to come.

We’ve improved our energy efficiency with new windows, and have stopped leaks with a much needed foundation and roof repair. We now have a gender-neutral bathroom that has far more privacy for our members, and we’ve installed an art sink that will help keep our Creative Arts supplies neat and tidy.

Our new bike rack encourages members to bike down to Laing House knowing their ride will be safe. With the addition of a bigger fridge, we’re able to store more fresh and healthy alternatives for our members. All of these little improvements have made a difference in making Laing House more accessible, organized and efficient.

Upgrades to Laing House have been a long time coming, and we’re so lucky that our donors have allowed us to make these changes. Our House is a huge part of what makes Laing special. It’s a home when you need one, it’s a place you are always welcome and the energy is unique.

When you walk in the front door you instantly understand why people come here to recover. From the Victorian fixtures to the original wood beams and the vibrant colours on the walls, the character adds so much to the atmosphere of Laing House. With our new renovations completed, we’re happy knowing our home is a little safer for our members.
