Participatory Processes: Research / Tracking Outcomes & Youth Initiatives

The framework for research and evaluation at Laing House is grounded in the concepts of
Participatory Action Research (PAR) and outcomes measurement. Firmly embedded in this
work is the fundamental principle that the community-agency partnership is central to the
success of this program, requiring active and genuine participation on the part of primary
stakeholders. Simply put, the people who most benefit from the work become the researchers
and evaluators who define success and guide ongoing quality improvement activities.

Outcomes definition and measurement at Laing House is based upon the United Way model,
with modifications that recognize the role of youth not only as receivers of service but also as
the deliverers of service.
