Family Support

Monthly Support Group for Families

“You feel so isolated. Nobody else can really relate, unless they're going through it. The family support group meetings are really helpful. You don't get much information from the hospital. And just meeting together in a social setting is good, too. The barbeque was a great opportunity to connect with others.” - Family member

Parents, family members and caring others are welcome! Family members provide support to each other, and access education related to youth and mental illness, to strengthen their role in supporting youth in their recovery.

Family members meet on the first Monday fo the month. For more information please contact: Judy Bell at (902) 473-7739

Individual Support

“When my son first became ill, I would have benefited from a list of supports for the family. We didn't know where to go. That was a big problem! It is critical to know about the different services that are available, not just for the young person, but for the family also.” - Family member

Sometimes family members have concerns related to the mental health of a young person, and don't know how to access the right resources to resolve them. Through providing individual support by telephone or in person, family members move forward in getting connected to appropriate formal and community resources.
